Welcome to UITA, The United Independent Taxi Association
Mission Statement
The sole purpose of the United Independent Taxi Association is defined in our name. It is to represent each and every independent Newcastle Hackney Carriage driver and unite them under ONE umbrella organisation.
It does not matter if the taxi driver rents his vehicle, is a proprietor with a single Hackney plate, a proprietor who runs a small office within the Hackney Carriage Trade or anyone who is part of a radio circuit. The UITA exists to listen to every driver's concerns and to voice these concerns through its elected committee to the relevant bodies that have a bearing on our livelihoods.
The UITA will seek to keep all the drivers informed of events and policies which can affect them. It will do this on its website and through leaflets and meetings when this becomes necessary.
The UITA will never be a financial burden on any driver as its costs are kept to a minimum. We would pay for a run of printed leaflets for example by asking for a small donation from the drivers at meetings. The low cost of the website is paid for in this way from such collections and is maintained for the benefit of all the drivers.
The UITA is apolitical and we answer to no-one and this, therefore, makes us the single most powerful organisation representing the Newcastle Hackney Carriage Trade.
We have an intelligent and articulate cross-cultural committee elected to negotiate on your behalf, diplomatically. When talks ever break down we also exist to mobilise the entire Newcastle Hackney Carriage Trade to take a more robust and pro-active course of action. Although we stress that this aspect of our organisation is always used a last resort when any decisions or implemented policies represent a direct threat to our livelihoods.
The UITA wishes every Newcastle Hackney Carriage driver a safe and prosperous future. Should you wish to contact us telephone: 07737 445682 or email our administration department at: admin@uita.co.uk
With kind regards,
Graham Goldie (Acting Chairman) UITA
